The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Vocus as a Senior Legal Counsel in our Melbourne or Sydney office, this role will be to provide legal support to Vocus on the integration of an acquired business and assets, providing advice and support on various types of contracts including procurement and customer contracts. Following integration of the acquisition, the role will transition to support Vocus’ business as usual

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Advise on, draft and negotiate procurements contracts including contracts for procurement of IT, technology, network and corporate related products and services.
  • Integrate new customer contracts to enable Vocus to continue to sell to these customers
  • Proactively engage with all types of internal and external stakeholders in relation to the integration and in the ordinary course
  • Following the integration, provide legal support and advice to Vocus to grow its business, resolve disputes and regulatory investigations and manage risk effectively
  • Improve legal operations through use of technology and implementing new process and better ways of working

What you’ll bring to this role

  • At least 5 years’ post qualified experience and in-house experience.
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting experience necessary, experience with technology framework agreements, infrastructure and IT contracts desirable.
  • Experience integrating a business, organisation or assets is highly regarded but not essential
  • Ability to strategically apply legal knowledge to protect and enhance commercial interests of Vocus
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Results oriented, with a positive and client focused attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Independent, proactive and resourceful working style
  • Must hold a legal practicing certificate

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to pick up new areas of work and skills
  • Negotiation, conflict management skills
  • Outstanding commitment to customer service and internal & external customer experience
  • Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills.
