About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced farm hand, looking for the next opportunity to expand their farming career! CMV Farms is undertaking the development of a 280-hectare pistachio orchard, alongside our existing 220-hectare orchard,15km from Robinvale, Victoria.

We are looking for an Orchard Supervisor to join our growing team. Your focus will encompass all tasks associated with developing a new pistachio orchard, undertaking general operations in the mature orchard, and assisting in the rootstock nursery from time to time. You will be required to operate machinery, undertake irrigation work as well as other manual tasks as requested. Young tree work is hands-on, and you must be able to spend appropriate periods in the field and effectively supervise a small team of contract workers. You will be required to provide hands-on-training for specific tasks in the field as well as ensure these tasks are carried out effectively and to budget. You will report directly to the Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will have:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong work health and safety principles
• A certificate or equivalent in Horticulture or at least 3 years of horticultural experience
• Experience in supervising workers in specific farm operations
• Ability to work under pressure and outside of normal hours, including night work as required
• Experience in orchard spray programs and crop harvesting
• Horticultural and mechanical aptitude
• Strong verbal and written English skills
• Basic competency with technology and computers
• A current driver’s licence and chemical users’ licence at a minimum
• A punctual, reliable and adaptable nature
• The ability to exercise independent judgment, as well as be part of a cohesive team, and contribute to developing a harmonious and respectful workplace
