ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a visionary and dynamic AI and Emerging Technology Leader to join our Advocacy and International Development team. This role is pivotal in shaping and influencing business reform issues relevant to our members in Australia and New Zealand as well as contributing to the global dialogue on AI and emerging technologies for the accounting profession.
You will lead our external advocacy on AI and technology, providing policy insights and thought leadership, ensuring relevance to our members, Chartered Accountants, and in the interest of our members – including writing submissions to consultations and participating in industry roundtables, webinars, contributing content for various publication. Additionally, you will support internal teams to understand the implications of AI and identify opportunities for our members.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and preparation of evidence-based policy submissions to government, standard setters, regulators, and other representative organizations.
- Strengthen our influence through advocacy on AI, digital, and emerging technology policy priorities.
- Build and manage relationships with stakeholders and members in relevant fields, including government agencies, regulators, and professional associations
- Identify and communicate digital and technology matters of relevance to the national and international policy agenda.
- Advocate in the public interest on data and technology-related legislative, regulatory, and standards matters.
- Engage with members to understand the effects of AI and emerging technology on their activities and proactively identify new areas for member products and services.
- Present at CA ANZ internal and external events on AI, digital, and emerging technology matters.
ABOUT YOU
This role revolves around three main areas – technology/AI knowledge, policy experience, and understanding of the accounting profession. At a minimum, we require strong knowledge of AI technologies and a reasonably good level of expertise in at least one of the other areas.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Expert Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the data and digital economy, particularly to the accounting profession. This includes government digitalisation agendas, AI developments (including generative AI and ethical considerations), cyber security risk and governance, open banking, and privacy and data considerations.
- Emerging Technologies: Strong grasp of emerging technologies and their implications for accounting practices and business.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ethical Values: Strong ethical values and a commitment to high-quality standards.
- Member Experience: Capability to deliver an exceptional member experience for Chartered Accountants in a rapidly changing data and technology environment.
- AI, Data, and Technology Experience: Demonstrated experience in AI, data, and technology matters in Australia and/or New Zealand, including policy advocacy and stakeholder relationship management.
- Communication and Negotiation: High-quality communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
- Policy Environment: Understanding the current challenges, implications, and opportunities for accountants and businesses in the data and AI technology space, as well as the policy environment and legislative development process.
- Legislation Interpretation: Ability to interpret complex legislation and effectively communicate legal, regulatory, and policy issues to diverse audiences.
Qualifications:
- Degree and relevant postgraduate qualifications, such as in data science or AI.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is an advantage.
