We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Technology team as our Head of Business Applications & Data based at our Cremorne Office, Melbourne. This fantastic opportunity is perfect for a strategic and organised team player with a background in Applications, Data and Integrations.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Technology, the Head of Business Applications & Data leads the development and maintenance of our ERP, POS, Data platforms and integrations required to glue it all together, it's the engine that drives the core of our business.  You will be leading teams based in Melbourne and Sydney, all associated projects, product releases and key supplier relationships.  Our ideal candidate would be a seasoned technology leader who can demonstrate an understanding of retail fundamentals and how they intersect with applications and data.

 

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders ensuring outcomes align with key business objectives
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy aligned with the organization’s business objectives.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive operational efficiency, improve decision-making, and enhance customer experience.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within their teams.
  • Team Management
    • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of application specialists, data engineers, data analysts, and integration specialists.
    • Mentor and coach team members to maximize their potential and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and recognize and reward outstanding contributions.
  • Application Development and Management
    • Partnering with third party vendors, oversee the product development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
    • Ensure the quality, security, and scalability of all applications and systems.
    • Manage application performance, resolve issues, and implement enhancements to optimize system efficiency.
  • Data Management and Analytics
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into effective data solutions.
    • Lead the design and implementation of data warehousing, reporting and analytics solutions
    • Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making by providing actionable insights and analytics.
    • Establish and enforce robust data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Integration
    • Design, develop, and maintain integration solutions to connect disparate systems and data sources.
    • Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between systems.
    • Monitor integration processes and troubleshoot issues to maintain system stability.

 

To be successful you will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated 5 years' experience in an application or data leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in the retail industry
  • Strong stakeholder management and team engagement capability
  • Exceptional communication skills across all business facets and with partners/vendors
  • Ability to align key stakeholders and influence business outcomes
  • Ability to identify, allocate and monitor performance of team members to successfully deliver outcomes to agreed timeframes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced retail culture
  • The role does require flexibility to accommodate technology deployments outside of hours
